I'm a sober guy, only having an occasional margarita when taking the wife out to a Mexican restaurant. But not this time. We stayed home and drank toasts to the death of fucking Jimmy Carter.
Many of you are too young to have experienced his miserable four year presidency. So let me bring you up to date. Keep in mind that I spent most of those four years in London England. Lucky me.
For starters, he wrecked the economy, driving interest rates to new heights. Ruined many America an lives. Before Carter, men worked and wives mostly still stayed at home and raised the kids. That America was ruined in his economic debacle, never to return.
And then he ruined automobiles. They banned convertibles and promoted 'safe cars', like the AMC Pacer (google it. Ick). The grand large cars shrank, engines were muffled with air pollution features. Muscle cars were castrated, then gone.
But it gets worse. He gave away our Panama Canal. Trump says he's going to get it back but he just says shit to excite the base while never following through. USA built the Panama Canal and it was our workers who died of malaria and worse while building it. Thanks Jimmy Carter, you bastard.
But worst of all, Jimmy Carter dropped support for the Shah of Iran, letting the evil Ayatollah Khomeini overthrow Iran. All of our Middle-eastern woes began when the radical Muslims became huge troublemakers across a dozen countries. And how did the Ayatollah thank us? He seized the American Embassy, taking our staff as hostages for 444 days.
There were many lesser annoyances from the Carter Administration. For one, military pay hardly advanced despite such high inflation, Carter telling the soldiers to lower the thermostats in the winter to save energy. My sister moved off base to have a say over her heating and cooling.
Ahem. So last night, my wife and I broke out the spiced rum and had a wonderful evening getting plastered in salute to the demise of the truly worst president in our lifetime. We went to bed giggling and slept so well.
No more booze for me until Bill Clinton. Then I'll attack my liver for the second time. Hillary? Might just throw a parade.
He's the only Republican member of congress not controlled by Isreal. All other Republicans have an AIPAC minder that they call their "AIPAC guy" that they obey. On every vote they think, well what does my AIPAC guy think. I'll just do what he says. Thomas Massie got rid of his. He's openly critical of Israel's genocide of Palestinians.
Now Mike Johnson is potentially going to loose the speakership because he needs 50% of the votes and it is assumed that the democrats all vote against the Republican speaker. So really he needs 95%+ of the Republican votes.
If a few of the Isreal critical Democrats were to back Thomas Massie we could end up with a Speaker of the House that has no problem talking about how it's corrupt that we give Israel money when we have problems here just to have them use the money to create more problems there.
