The jew media claims we fought communism in vietnam, but in fact the grievances of the Viet Minh go back to the Japanese occupation of ww2.
The French colonized indochina in the early 20th century. Things went okayish, until they disarmed the population and then turned tail and ran as soon as they heard the Japanese were invading during ww2. The Vietnamese were absolutely brutalized by the Japanese and thousands were brutally killed and starved because the French pulled their military out like the cowards they were.
After the war, Instead of letting them rebuild under self-determination, Vietnam was returned to the French by military force by the united states, crushing the guerilla Vietnamese forces that had stood against the Japanese. One can fully understand why they were upset that the cowards who disarmed them and abandoned them were once again appointed as their rulers as their bravest men were killed by the so called "freedom fighting" Americans.
The whole communism thing was more spawned out of hatred for the Japanese and disillusionment with the west with a long history of violence than any type of politics. Had there been another willing benefactor with equal or greater resources seeking to give them aid to be free from the French and Americans, they would have accepted any help.
This fundamental misunderstanding of the war cost hundreds of thousands of lives. American men were never fighting communism, they were fighting the memory of Japanese and French occupation and the will to be free. That war could never be won unless they went scorched earth and declared total war to the death.
To this day, nobody is really aware of the real reasons and facts behind why Ho Chi Minh raised his army to fight the west
You don't have to take my word for it though, you can listen to him yourself. They'll never show this in school
