Old planes vs new planes, the simulator summary     (TellTalk)

I tried a B727-200,737-200,747-200 for Boeings. And I tried an Airbus A320, A330. I noticed a very stark difference in the way the two fly. This may be biased since all the Boeing I flew were build before 1975 (roughly). The first thing i noticed is airbus has this really annoying habit of flying for you. It's like if a plane had the arrogance of a Frenchman, with the engineering of a German. It also tends to do sporadic, dumb shit no one asked it to do.

Conversely the Boeings had a tendency to lean down towards the ground. My guess is the center of gravity was towards the front of the plane. However, after some getting used to, it was easier to fly a plane from 50+ years ago, than a much newer airbus. What I find interesting is the 707,717,727,737 all share the same airframe. They only changed the frame from 747 onwards. Im picturing someone just used MSPaint to stretch the 737-800 by copy pasting the center fuselage.

What I loved on the older planes is the lack of glass. Everything looked much simpler and intuitive, easy to use. I know Boeing has gone down the automation route too, and a lot of planes have crashed because of it. Sometimes I wish we would go back to older plane formats, and focus on manual navigation, and actually having the pilot do stuff the old way. Too much automation is killing the aviation industry.

Have a new TV and stereo system showing up next week     (whatever)

Since we remodeled everything on the interior and are almost complete with new furnishings, the wife thought we ought to get a new TV. While we don’t watch “TV”, we do watch movies we stream or dvds we own. I don’t really care about any of it, but she insisted.

So, we have a 55” Samsung Frame coming (wife hates the look of a tv screen) and some piece of furniture to set it on. Can’t feasibly do a wall mount, so a stand it is. I’m ok with my old stereo stuff, which totally rocks, but it’s prior to blue tooth so it won’t work for stuff coming off the iPad. We don’t have internet or WiFi where we live, so blue tooth it is.

Due to all of this, we’re ending up with a new Denon 7.0 receiver and Martin Logan speakers and sub. 5 speaker towers for the front channels and bookshelf for the rear. The rear bookshelves will sit on pedestals and are blue tooth because running wire in this house is a cunt.
Shit should be off the hook for watching Tombstone and listening to Black Sabbath!

How in the fuck does anyone use github when documentation is incomplete, inaccurate and/or misleading. Even popular, sophisticated githubs have documentation that is not good enough to get going. I'm using CHatGPT to read the pages and it's even saying they're incomplete/inaccurate.      (AskGoats)

I was just going over the tesseract github page here https://github.com/UB-Mannheim/tesseract/wiki and even chatgpt is saying it's not complete (which is what I thought). and i'm getting errors immediately after installing the program and its dependency in my java project....

stackoverflow is full of useless questions AND answers, as usual. that site, too, should be completely deleted, as they appear to have some SEO deal with search engines to block competitors and they block many questions from being posted or commented on by locking or deleting questions from comments.

and i found some instructions online https://www.baeldung.com/java-ocr-tesseract but the instructions generate stupid errors that do not appear to be accurately describing whatever is wrong, because it's using a local directory but telling me to define an environment variable. and by the way, when i tried using one of the garbage ass stackoverflow pages, someone said to go to powershell and type "tesseract --version" to find the location of tesseract............ how in the fuck would that work when i have to set up the goddamn env variable before powershell knows where to look to run anything to do with the program in the first fucking place? how in the fuck does this trash exist on stack faggotass overflow? i have NEVER seen a program configure the env variable for me, which is another retarded issue in and of itself - they should always do that especially if it has to do with writing code.... is there a reason companies are being retarded and not rolling this into their configuration?

also, what in the fuck is this "directory" in the code?
tesseract.setDatapath("src/main/resources/tessdata");

"resources" opens some goofy ass window and i don't see anywhere "tessdata" would be in there, but tessdata is in the directory that the tesseract program was installed in...... what is this code even trying to do?

It's also looking for an image in a directory that doesn't exist
File image = new File("src/main/resources/images/multiLanguageText.png");

and if i assign it a different path with my image it just generates a different error talking about how it's calling out to the internet; somewhere on sourceforge. i don't really want these programs connecting to the internet, but that's a whole other can of worms.

how in the fuck do i encounter this dumb shit following the official instructions? ChatGPT is coming to the same conclusions I did where information is missing. and by the way, chatGPT is turning up answers i can't find after 90 minutes of searching............ programmers were never good.

So I crawled into bed and had just dozed off last night and was then awakened by pounding at my door. Hard pounding. I grabbed my man cannon and with each step the pounding got harder. I didn't know what to expect. I jerk my door open and there's my neighbor telling me the forest is on fire and at our back doors. I could see the raging flames and glow and thick smoke. So I get dressed real quick and go evaluate. Its bad. Huge walls of flames in the forests south of me within 100 yards. My neighbors were screaming and bugged out. Its so bad that it looks like we're about to be overtaken so I order my wife and kids to grab what they can and get in the vehicle. I grab a few of my guitars and guns, my wife grabs our family photo albums and whatnot and load it. I drag out water hoses and hook them up because I ain't leaving. I'm going to send my family out but I'll stay and try and save what I can. Then the fire crews start pulling in. Then a rollback goes by with a burnt-out car on it from down the road. I was waiting for the power lines to fall. I have a dozen fire trucks in my yard along with bamberlamps. Water hoses going every which direction. A makeshift water pool set up by my driveway.

Its been very dry. We're in a major drought right now and have been for a while. Lots of fallen leaves everywhere. Keep in mind, the wind is howling 30-40mph the whole time stoking the flames. It inches closer and gets bigger and bigger. My heart is breaking because I'm about to lose everything. Irreplaceable things. My wife & kids sit in the vehicle in the driveway awaiting my signal to GTFO. At this point I join the fire crews and start fighting this monster. The tops of trees are on fire and fire bats flying every which direction as if its trying to spread to other parts non-disturbed. Then a shitload of seasoned firefighters show up and we finally get it under control.

Life can change quickly. One moment lying in bed, then the next walls of flames everywhere with the threat of losing everything. Its a helluva thing to wake up to. Then about 5 am we got some needed rain. There's a handful of crew still here finishing up this morning but I can still see flames. We got lucky this time. Praise Hitler

Any cool new stuff I can be a hacker with?     (Linux)

Hello esteemed hackers,

Have you found any cool new stuff recently? Share it.

I will share some cool stuff as example:

You can use Waydroid to run Android inside of Linux.

You can use PWA (Progressive Web Apps) to make web apps, which means you could make a shortcut and you click it and a app pops up but its actually an a website pretending to be an app. It is useful for something like an online ai or a browser based messaging service or maybe a calendar.

You can use LM-Studio to run local AIs. The models with "Instruct Uncensored" and "Kunoichi" have no problem being racist or telling you how to do questionable things.

x64 Wine got released you can get it on Chaotic-Aur without compiling if you btw enough

BTRFS is pretty cool and you can use Snapper or Timeshift to have backups
